Probability and Stochastic Processes

MATH 130A (4.0 units)Session I

Basic concepts of random variables, distributions, independence, correlations, moments, limit theorems, conditional probability, Markov chains, gambler's ruin, branching process, birth and death processes, numerical simulations in Matlab. Prerequisite: (MATH 2A or AP Calculus BC or AP Calculus AB) and (MATH 2B or AP Calculus BC) and (MATH 3A or MATH H3A). AP Calculus BC with a minimum score of 3. AP Calculus AB with a minimum score of 4. AP Calculus BC with a minimum score of 4. Overlaps with MATH 131A, STATS 120A.
