Application
UCI Travel-Study Programs are available to all currently enrolled college students over the age of 18 who are in good academic standing. Students are encouraged to apply as early as possible, as space is limited and all programs are filled strictly on a first come first served basis.
Application packets will be accepted starting on December 1, 2007 and all programs enroll on a first come first served basis. Students should apply as early as possible to reserve their spot on a program. More information about our waitlist policy is also available.
For Session I programs the enrollment deadline is May 1, 2008.
For Session II programs the enrollment deadline is June 1, 2008.
Application packets that are not 100% complete will not be processed.

Enrollment status will be confirmed to students via email within 48 hours of the Travel-Study Office’s receipt of the Application Packet.
Enrollments will be considered provisional until a program reaches minimum enrollment.
When a program reaches minimum enrollment, students will be notified by email, and individual enrollment status will change from provisional to confirmed. Students should not purchase airline tickets until a program has reached the minimum enrollment and contact has been made by UCI Summer Session indicating that enrollment status is confirmed. In many cases minimum enrollment will be reached by February or March. However, please be patient, and remain aware that in some cases minimum enrollment could be reached as late as April 15, 2008. UCI Summer Session highly recommends that students purchase trip cancellation insurance even after the program has reached its minimum enrollment and enrollment status has been confirmed.
As you are making your decision about Travel-Study, keep in mind that students applying to the program should be...
- patient
- prepared to embark upon an academic program, not on a summer vacation
- reasonable in their expectations, and thus aware of cultural differences especially with regards to living accommodations / standards of living, customs, and food
- able to handle difficult classroom work in an unfamiliar setting
- flexible in their attitudes and expectations; willing to accept change
- cooperative and accommodating
- flexible in roommate assignments
- physically, emotionally, and socially able to handle the change in environment
- flexible in dietary requirements
- able to make a budget and stick to it
- aware that high standards of personal conduct are both expected and enforced
