Learning and Academic Resource Center (LARC)

LARC is a campus-wide academic assistance program directly involved in the educational mission of UCI. LARC provides services designed to help students acquire the skills they need to develop intellectually, become successful learners, and achieve their academic and professional goals.

LARC staff and programs provide students with the personal contact and support needed for academic success on a large and diverse campus. The Center works closely with faculty to develop programs that meet both curricular objectives and the changing needs of students. LARC programs stress the development of academic abilities that all university students need regardless of major: effective study strategies, critical reading and analytical writing.

The Center offers adjunct classes, workshops, peer tutoring groups, and individual counseling, including assistance in all forms of academic reading and writing. Many programs focus on specific disciplines and offer students the opportunity to improve their academic skills in such areas as biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, humanities, social sciences, social ecology, engineering, and computer science. This summer, LARC offers adjunct classes, study strategy and writing workshops, peer tutoring groups, and individual counseling, including assistance in all forms of academic reading and writing. Individual assistance with personal statements for graduate school is also available.
