Marketing Interns

As a paid marketing intern, you will learn by doing. As you help to develop and implement plans to market and promote Summer Session, our programs, and activities, you will increase awareness of resources, opportunities, and connections that can make a difference to students’ experiences. Through team planning and the coordination of summer events, you will also gain leadership, decision-making, and public speaking skills while heightening visibility of Summer Session and supporting student life.

How to Become an Intern

This internship will be paid hourly during the summer. For more information on the Marketing Internship and the Leadership Development Program, please visit the Summer Session Student Life Office (building #230 on the campus map), or e-mail us at

I believe that the Summer Session Leadership Development Program has enabled me to not only reach out to different groups of people but to also create memorable connections with the incoming students and other interns. As a lead intern this year, I will try my best to make this summer amazing and filled with excitement.

Working with Summer Session has given me the opportunity to grow as an individual and a leader. By being part of the staff, I was able to step out of my comfort zone to achieve goals and sharpen my leadership and public speaking skills. As a Lead Intern for the LDP Marketing Team, I aspire to assist Summer Session by providing guidance for incoming anteaters during their transition to college through marketing events, programs and resources to enhance their experience here at UCI.

Through UCI Summer Session’s Freshman Edge Program, I was given the opportunity to acquaint myself with the college life by living on campus and taking classes. The program provided me with fun, yet challenging experiences that overall provided insight regarding the life of a full time college student. As a result, I have decided to return this upcoming summer as a Marketing Intern for Summer Session, as part of the Leadership Development Program. I hope to give back to the community that had prepared me so well for freshman year, all while developing my own self-learning, and breadth of experience with students from all over the world. I am sincerely looking forward to what this summer has to offer!

Straight out of high school, I was excited but also nervous for the upcoming year as a college student. The title itself was overwhelming. However, thanks to the Freshman Edge program, I became more accustomed to the lifestyle and delved into the great opportunities, both academic and social, that UCI has to offer. Now, as a marketing intern, I want to give back to the program that gave me a taste of how amazing these next few years will be and show new students that there is really nothing to be nervous about.

Being part of the Summer Session Leadership Development Program for two years in a row has helped me develop leadership skills that have helped me stand out in working field. Becoming a Marketing Intern has made me get out of my comfort zone, which lead to becoming a leader who is able to take charge at the necessary moments. Looking back before becoming part of this program, I was a shy and unspoken student here at UCI; however, since the start of this program those traits have ceased to exist and new ones have begun to shine.

As an out of state student from Naples, Florida, the Freshman Edge program was fundamental to making me feel secure about my decision to attend UCI. I think it's one of the best experiences UCI offers and I'm excited to be a part of the team responsible for organizing it. I've made lifelong friends here and am glad to be contributing this year.
