College learning encompasses more than just time spent in the classroom. Experience college life by participating in the exclusive Summer Session INSIDE UCI Series events and workshops, designed to introduce you university research, campus resources, and an array of opportunities you may take advantage of during your time at UCI. Make the most out of your time in our program by immersing yourself in university life and participating in exclusive activities such as faculty presentations and panels with an emphasis on university research.
All students will participate in a range of exciting co-curricular activities as part of the required course, University Studies 83/84. Your course syllabus, available on the course website closer to the start of the session, will outline attendance requirements.
Your Freshman Edge experience will be guided by the wonderful staff in the Summer Session Office as well as by the Freshman Mentors. The Mentors are UCI undergraduate students and former participants in Summer Session programs who volunteer their time to support you, serve as a resource, and plan meaningful social events.
Below the program calendar you will find descriptions and examples of past events. There’s something for everyone!

These events will take you behind the scenes to little-known yet intriguing corners of the University and introduce you to resources. Social events have included specially planned lunch activities, movie and board game nights, a dance, intramural sports games at the Anteater Recreational Center (ARC), and much more! The calendar of optional social events is unique to the interests of the current Mentor team and also depends on the events and happenings which occur around campus each summer.
